The Indoor Air Quality and Public Health course is focused on the interconnection between the built environment, surrounding areas and the health of its occupants, with special emphasis on indoor air quality (IAQ) and its effects on public health.

Obs.:A reduced amount (20%) will be applied to ISPUP students and employees, public health doctors, students of the University of Porto, students and teachers of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto and members of APSAi Associação Portuguesa de Saúde Ambiental, upon presentation of the respective proof to the email cursos@ispup.up.pt.
- Identify symptoms and diseases associated with exposure to indoor air quality pollutants;
- Understand the legal limits for indoor air quality (IAQ) physical-chemical parameters and interpret the relevant Decrees-Law;
- Learn how to assess IAQ comfort parameters and understand measurement methods for particulate matter, radon, volatile organic compounds, nitrogen dioxide, and ozone;
- Become familiar with IAQ measurement reports and identify non-compliant parameters;
- Present methodologies for resolving non-compliance situations using a source control approach;
- Understand building characteristics and human behaviors that can negatively influence IAQ;
- Interpret exposure situations in real clinical cases;
- Conduct spatial assessments of emission sources in the surrounding environment (outdoor environment);
- Use air monitoring stations;
- Calculate the required number of sampling points;
- Determine where to place samplers and measuring instruments;
- Extract, process, and statistically analyze data;
- Prepare an IAQ report.
