The Public Health Institute of the University of Porto within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and the approved application “Platform For a Global Health – Qualification of Human Health Resources”, coordinated by the Polytechnic Institute of Health of the North in the context of the WARNING N.º 01/PRR/2021 – Youth Impulse Program STEAM and Adult Impulse Program, presents below the advanced course on the topic: Research in Public Health Nutrition: from planning to analysis and interpretation of data.
Thursday and Friday (morning and afternoon), in a total of 4 sessions, from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm
Course addressed to:
- adults over 23 years old;
- residents in the national territory at the time of the actions of which they are beneficiaries.
Obs.:Free course, but limited to 50 places, which will be occupied in order of registration. ATTENTION: Mandatory submission in the application form, in the field "Annex" of the pdf with Proof of Degree in Health Sciences
With this course, students are expected to be able to:
- develop skills necessary for planning and conducting epidemiological studies;
- apply statistical methods to study the relationship between diet/nutrition and health outcomes, including the definition of dietary patterns;
- increase awareness of potential sources of errors and methodological issues that will affect the critical interpretation of scientific results.

Overall, this Course intends that health professionals acquire skills to investigate and correctly interpret the relationships between dietary exposures and health outcomes, increasing the capacity for scientific communication to the general public.
The course is aimed at graduates in Health Sciences interested in studying dietary exposures and their relationship with health (nutritionists, nurses, doctors...).
