The Public Health Institute of the University of Porto within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and the approved application “Platform For a Global Health – Qualification of Human Health Resources”, coordinated by the Polytechnic Institute of Health of the North in the context of the WARNING N.º 01/PRR/2021 – Youth Impulse Program STEAM and Adult Impulse Program, presents below the advanced course on the topic: Common mental disorders in primary care

Course addressed to:
- adults over 23 years old;
- residents in the national territory at the time of the actions of which they are beneficiaries;

Obs.:Free course, but limited to 50 places. ATTENTION: Mandatory submission in the registration form to submit a single PDF on the registration form with both proofs in the "Attachment" field: proof of (1) a degree or master's degree in Medicine, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work and proof of (2) professional activity in primary health care.

Acquire knowledge, attitudes and skills that allow developing and maintaining a program for the management of common mental illnesses in primary health care with a framework of a chronic, collaborative and staggered care model:
- recognize the role of each professional within the transversal team;
- identify, address and diagnose each problem and disturbance;
- implement individualized treatment and follow-up plans;
- train patients and family members;
- offer differentiated and evidence-based mental health services;
- innovate with communication and information technologies;
- raise awareness and educate community members about mental health;
- managing and mitigating mental health stigma;
- synergy with pre-existing programs: diabetes, perinatal, adolescence, geriatrics, community, promotion, etc.

*ATTENTION! Please note that applications from those selected in the previous edition will not be accepted, even if they have not completed the course.

The course is aimed at primary health care professionals (and specialist teams):
- interns and doctors of General and Family Medicine;
- interns and Public Health physicians;
- psychiatry interns;
- nurses with or without differentiation in mental health, perinatal health, community health, gerontology, school health;
- junior psychologists and clinical psychologists;
- social workers.

* Candidates must prove this requirement by submitting proof of a bachelor's or master's degree in Medicine, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work or proof of professional activity in primary health care.
