The Public Health Institute of the University of Porto within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and the approved application “Platform For a Global Health – Qualification of Human Health Resources”, coordinated by the Polytechnic Institute of Health of the North in the context of the WARNING N.º 01/PRR/2021 – Youth Impulse Program STEAM and Adult Impulse Program, presents below the advanced course on the topic: Public Health in the Built Environment.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4pm to 6pm
Course addressed to:
- adults over 23 years old;
- residents in the national territory at the time of the actions of which they are beneficiaries;
Obs.:Free course, but limited to 50 places, which will be occupied in order of registration; It is mandatory to submit an academic qualification certificate or proof of professional experience* in the areas of Medicine, Public Health, Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering and Clinical Analysis; *Environmental Health Technicians must present a copy of the Professional Certificate as proof.
1. Be able to identify symptoms and diseases associated with exposure in the built environment;
2. Know the legal limits for the physical and chemical parameters of indoor air quality (IAQ);
3. Understand how to evaluate comfort parameters of interior spaces, as well as the IAQ;
4. Familiarize yourself with IQ measurement reports and know how to identify non-conforming parameters;
5. Understand how the characteristics of the buildings to be evaluated and the behavior of the occupants can influence health in the built environment;
6. Prepare a risk report based on an assessment of the building, linking the occupants' signs and symptoms to possible etiological agents (case simulation).
The course is aimed at professionals in the areas of Medicine, Public Health, Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering and Clinical Analysis.
Applicants must prove by submitting an academic qualification certificate or proof of professional experience* in the above mentioned areas.
**Environmental Health Technicians must present a copy of the Professional Certificate as proof.
