CBIG-SCREEN - Working collaboratively with vulnerable women to identify the best implementation gains by screening cervical cancer more effectively in European countries
The CBIG-SCREEN project aims to reduce inequality by improving the offer of cervical cancer screening to vulnerable and underserved groups. Though Cervical Cancer Screening (CCS) programmes drastically reduce cervical cancer mortality, they remain largely inaccessible and underused by subpopulations of vulnerable women, exacerbating inequality. CBIG-SCREEN will develop sound evidence around barriers to cervical cancer screening and pilot interventions with strategic outcomes to inform policy making to be updated after the decision is made on the categorisation of vulnerable groups. Last but not the least, the consortium will generate policies, programmes, communications and other services to meet the needs, and advise policymakers to develop recommendations.
OBJECTIVES
Key objectives are to make the offer of screening more attractive, accessible, and acceptable to vulnerable women to CCS programmes, and ensure they are not left out in the follow up from the point of the initial test to treatment if necessary. The consortium will work in collaboration with these women to identify and develop strategies to meet their varied and specific needs, explaning the value of adopting these evidence-based strategies to policymakers to adopt these strategies, and ensuring that Cervical Cancer Screening programmes reach out and promote these interventions.
Our secondary objectives are :
– tackle inequality in cervical cancer screening
– create a Europe-wide knowledge framework around barriers to CCS
– contributing to achieving the WHO 2030 target of screening >70% of women for cervical cancer
