Joana Madureira

Joana Madureira has 15 years of research experience on the topic of human exposure in indoor environments and associated adverse and beneficial health effects, with considerable emphasis on source identification, health risk assessment and management. She is working as a post-doctoral researcher at the Air Pollution & Health Lab of ITR.

Joana Madureira coordinated, as Principal Investigator, a R&D European Project and has been involved in many other multidisciplinary national and International expert work assignments, including work with WHO Europe and JRC on a school IAQ survey, where among others, many training, literacy materials and guidance documents were produced targeting different groups/stakeholders with diverse backgrounds.

Her publication list demonstrates an excellent range of innovative environmental and epidemiological research, providing scientific basis for decision-making on environmental, occupational and health standards, crucial to promote healthier lives worldwide. She has been regularly invited to act as main arguer in International/national panels of PhD and MSc students, served as Guest Editor as well as has contributed to the scientific review in various International journals.

She has received several awards for her work, including IACOBUS Award for Scientific Missions; Best Scientific Publication of the Region Galicia-Spain and North of Portugal; and Best Scientific Oral Communication in several International Conferences.
