Magda Fonseca, born in Porto, has a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy of University of Porto (1999-2005), a master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from the Faculty of Pharmacy of University of Coimbra (2016-2018) and, since 2021, is a student at the Doctoral Program in Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto. After 10 years of activity as a community pharmacist, which helped her to consolidate her will to contribute to the improvement of people’s health, she decided to fulfill this goal through her true passion, which is scientific research, which she started during her degree. So far, she has participated in diverse research projects, since those most related to basic biochemical research to those most associated with applied research, namely in the field of nanotechnologies applied to cancer, which resulted in publications and scientific communications.

Since 2020, she has voluntarily joined the Board of SPEM (Portuguese Society of Multiple Sclerosis) where she performs functions related to research and innovation, organization of entrepreneurship events and supervision of internships for international students. She has also had experience in the field of Health Communication, through the production of scientific content for digital platforms in pharmaceutical industry laboratories. She has also participated in entrepreneurship and innovation programs in the field of digital health, since 2016, whose knowledge she always tries to put into practice in the projects she is dedicated to.

As part of the PhD thesis, she will integrate the Laboratory “Cognitive deficit associated with nervous system diseases”, in a project focused on digital health in the area of early dementia, under the supervision of the integrated doctoral researcher Luís Ruano and the co-supervision of the integrated doctorate researcher Natália Araújo.
