Teresa Mateus

Teresa Letra Mateus, DVM (Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro), Msc Food Science and Technology (Escola Superior de Biotecnologia – Universidade Católica Portuguesa), PhD Veterinary Science (Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar – Universidade do Porto).

Post graduated in Food Safety (Escola Superior de Biotecnologia – Universidade Católica Portuguesa), Health Promotion and Education (Escola Superior de Educação – Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo) and Health Communication (Escola Superior de Saúde – Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo).

Between 2001 and 2018 she worked in veterinary public health (animal health, food safety education and consulting) and she was an assistant professor at Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), Escola Universitária Vasco da Gama and Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo (IPVC). Since October 2018 she is a Professor at Escola Superior Agrária – IPVC.

Concerning research centers, she is an integrated member of CISAS – Center for Research and Development in Agrifood Systems and Sustainability (IPVC), and collaborates with Veterinary and Animal Research Centre (CECAV-UTAD, Associate Laboratory for Animal and Veterinary Sciences AL4AnimalS) and EpiUnit – Instituto de Saúde Pública da Universidade do Porto, Laboratory for Integrative and Translational Research in Population Health (ITR). She supervised 31 masters and one doctoral thesis that have already been completed.

She was a national member of the Management Committee of COST Action COMBAR CA 16230, Combatting anthelmintic resistance in ruminants. She was a researcher in Erasmus+ project number: 2017-1-FR01-KA202-037287, with the title Educate animal welfare as a farming opportunity. She was also a researcher in project MAR2020: MAR-02.01.01-FEAMP-0087.

She coordenates the postgraduate course in One Health at IPVC. She is in the Portuguese board of the Wild Animals Vigilance Euro-Mediterranean Society and she is a member of the Portuguese Society of the Veterinary Sciences.

Her interests are One Health and Communication.
