Joana Sampaio

Joana Sampaio graduated in Nutrition Sciences from the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences of the University of Porto (FCNAUP) in 2015. In that same year, was invited to collaborate in the Public Health initiative – PRONUTRISENIOR project, funded by the EEA Grants (PT06 – Public Health Initiatives Program, reference 81NU5), in which remained until 2016. Obtained a Master’s degree in Public Health from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), in 2019, with the thesis “Exposure to abuse and food insecurity among the elderly in Porto”. During 2018-2019, was a researcher at the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto (ISPUP), under the HARMED project (PTDC/IVC-SOC/6782/2014). She is currently a PhD student in Physical Activity and Health and Research Scholarship in the Research Center for Physical Activity, Health and Leisure (CIAFEL) and at the Faculty of Sport of the University of Porto (FADEUP), with a project approved by the Foundation for Science and Technology (SFRH/BD/146241/2019), being also integrated in the Laboratory for Integrative and Translational Research in Health (ITR). The PhD project is part of the FCNAUP’s project “MED-E: Multidimensional impact on health of an exercise and diet intervention in the elderly”, in which is collaborating. Also collaborates with FADEUP and FCNAUP in the Body and Brain project (PTDC / SAU-DES / 31808/2017; POCI-01-0145-FEDER-031808). Co-supervised a degree thesis at FCNAUP, has an article published in a national magazine and has presented oral communications. The main research interests focus on the social, economic and health determinants of aging and geriatric nutrition.
